Sodium nitrate
Sodium nitrate occurs naturally in the form of a nitrite mineral (nitrite, Chilean saltpeter, sodium nitrate).
The name nitronatryt is formed on the basis of the chemical composition of the mineral: Latin. nitrogenium = nitrogen, and natrium = sodium.
It occurs in dry and hot areas because it is easily soluble in water. It is formed in the evaporation process, the effect of which is salt deposits.
It is usually found in the company of halite, anhydrite or gypsum. Occurs in compact, granular clusters and also creates air raids and efflorescence.
