Description
Trisodium phosphate. Sodium phosphate
Sodium phosphate, Na3PO4 is an inorganic chemical compound. It is a phosphoric acid sodium salt. This substance is in the form of white crystals well soluble in water. The aqueous solution is characterized by a strongly alkaline reaction – the pH of a 1% solution is 11.9. Sodium phosphate occurs in the form of a hydrate (most often as a twelve hydrate, rarely as a tenhydrate).
Sodium phosphate is used to precipitate other metal phosphates, to produce chemicals for softening water, as a regulator of acidity and as a substance enriching products in phosphorus. It is a component of phosphate fertilizers and can also contribute to the eutrophication of waters.
Functions: regulation of acidity, emulsification, chelation, antioxidant support.
Agriculture: fertilizers.
Industry: chemicals for softening water, drops, gels.
