Potassium permanganate
It is used in the form of an oxidizer in various chemical reactions (especially in organic chemistry). Its mixture with glycerol is self-igniting, which will be used to ignite a fire under difficult conditions (eg in handy rescue kits).
Potassium permanganate has strong bactericidal and fungicidal properties. Pellets of this compound are commonly used, inter alia, for disinfecting washing water (eg for bathing newborns). This substance is an active ingredient in ointments intended for the decontamination of the throat and in wound disinfectants. The diluted solution is used to rinse the mouth.
Potassium permanganate is used in the process of oxygen production by reaction with hydrogen peroxide or during its strong heating. It can also be used to obtain chlorine in reaction with hydrochloric acid.
