Description
Titanium oxide. Titanium white
Application
In modern technologies, titanium oxide is used to produce:
– photoanodes destined for water photodegradation,
– photoanodes for the photochemical decomposition of organic compounds,
– cheap solar cells,
– photocatalysts intended for the recovery and removal of heavy metals,
– catalysts causing photodegradation of environmental pollution (NOx),
– filters for removing organic pollutants from water,
– sensors controlling the fuel / air ratio in car engines (lambda sensors),
– moisture sensors,
– low temperature oxygen sensors,
– high temperature pH sensors,
– heterogeneous catalysts,
– fiber optic interiors,
– layers of optical and interference filters,
– laser mirrors,
– gas separating membranes,
– antibacterial filters,
– coatings of self-cleaning and anti-fog lenses,
– glass crystallization agents,
– varistors,
– capacitors.
Titanium oxide is also traditionally used as a pigment (titanium white) for the production of paper, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, porcelain, paints and enamels, plastics and in the form of a glaze color stabilizer.
