Application
In modern technologies, it is used to produce:
- photoanode for photoconcentration of water;
- photoanode for photochemical decomposition of organic compounds;
- photocatalysts for the recovery and removal of heavy metals;
- catalysts causing photo-degradation of environmental pollution (NOx);
- cheap solar cells;
- heterogeneous catalysts;
- coatings for self-cleaning and anti-fogging glasses;
- agents that cause glass crystallisation;
- fiber optic interiors;
- layers for optical and interference filters;
- laser mirrors;
- gas separating membranes;
- antibacterial filters;
- filters to remove organic impurities from water;
- sensors controlling the fuel / air ratio in car engines (lambda probes);
- moisture sensors;
- low temperature oxygen sensors;
- high temperature pH sensors;
- varistors;
- capacitors.
It is also used in a traditional way as a pigment (titanium white) for the production of paper, plastics, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, porcelain, paints and enamels and as a glaze color stabilizer.
