Urotropin (hexamethylenetetramine, HMTA) - an organic chemical compound, a polycyclic tertiary amine.
Application
In the form of tablets, it is used as a tourist fuel for heating food in field conditions (similar to trioxane).
Used in the plastics industry as a substrate for the production of phenol-formaldehyde resins (bakelite).
It is an intermediate for the preparation of explosive explosives (HMTD - peroxide urotropin) and crushing (hexogen, octogen).
Also used as a digestion inhibitor in acidic pickling and cleaning baths.
Urotropin is also used as a preservative.
