Ammonium bicarbonate, NH4HCO3 - an inorganic chemical compound from the group of bicarbonates, carbonic acid ammonium hydrogen carbonate.
It creates colorless crystals with a scent of ammonia, which are easily decomposed into ammonia, water and carbon dioxide. Well soluble in water, it hydrolyzes as a salt of a weak acid and a weak base.
Application
Used, among others for extinguishing media, dyes and also as a simple fertilizer (especially in China, although it is replaced there by urea due to lower quality and instability). It is also used in the manufacture of ceramics, plastics and rubber, when tanning hides and making catalysts. It is also used to obtain other ammonium compounds.
