Pyrosulfite is a substance commonly known and used in viticulture for the preservation and stabilization (i.e. the so-called sulfurization) of wines, meads, juices and musts. It has excellent disinfecting and sterilizing properties, effectively prevents the growth of mold and bacteria.
Disinfection of wine and brewing equipment:
Dosage of the metabisulfite: 20-30g / 1 liter of water (2-3% solution).
Application: decontamination and sterilization of all types of wine equipment (balloons, bottles, containers, corks, hoses, etc.). In order to obtain high quality, good and can retain wine - it should be done in clean and sterile (disinfected) conditions. The sodium metabisulfite solution for disinfecting devices should be prepared just before use, as this solution is an unstable solution and is not re-usable after rinsing. Disinfecting properties are primarily fumes - so when disinfecting balloons or bottles, pour in them the sodium metabisulfite solution and seal tightly for 5 -15 minutes.
