Sodium phosphate, Na3PO4 - inorganic chemical compound, phosphoric acid sodium salt. White crystals well soluble in water. The aqueous solution is strongly alkaline, e.g. the pH of its 1% solution is 11.9. Occurs in the form of hydrate (most often as a twelve hydrate, rarely as a tenhydrate).
Used for phosphate precipitation of other metals, production of chemicals for water softening, acidity regulator and as a substance enriching products in phosphorus. It is a component of phosphate fertilizers and can contribute to water eutrophication.
Function: regulating acidity, emulsifying, chelating, supporting the activity of antioxidants.
