Titanium oxide. Titanium white
Application
In modern technologies, titanium oxide is used to produce:
- photoanodes destined for water photodegradation,
- photoanodes for the photochemical decomposition of organic compounds,
- cheap solar cells,
- photocatalysts intended for the recovery and removal of heavy metals,
- catalysts causing photodegradation of environmental pollution (NOx),
- filters for removing organic pollutants from water,
- sensors controlling the fuel / air ratio in car engines (lambda sensors),
- moisture sensors,
- low temperature oxygen sensors,
- high temperature pH sensors,
- heterogeneous catalysts,
- fiber optic interiors,
- layers of optical and interference filters,
- laser mirrors,
- gas separating membranes,
- antibacterial filters,
- coatings of self-cleaning and anti-fog lenses,
- glass crystallization agents,
- varistors,
- capacitors.
Titanium oxide is also traditionally used as a pigment (titanium white) for the production of paper, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, porcelain, paints and enamels, plastics and in the form of a glaze color stabilizer.
