Characterization of corn starch
Corn starch is often confused with maize flour. These products are made from corn, but the flour is obtained by grinding the grains, while the starch is made from white corn stamens. It is a gluten-free product and has a lower calorie content than maize flour.
Corn starch is a natural carbohydrate. In 100 g it contains 367 kcal.
Cosmetic application
Thanks to its natural origin and low price, starch is used in testing color blends that are added to cosmetic products. It is also a component of talcs, blushes, matting powders and bronzers, where it acts as a filler.
Starch works in the production of cosmetics for the face, eyes, lips and nails. It is recommended for oily and combination skin because it has a drying effect on the skin. It makes the makeup looks aesthetically pleasing and protects the face from glistening, which is important in the case of excessive production of sebum.
